Subject: RE: Winter Cycling clothes?I bike as long as there's no snow on the ground (which is fairly often here). I have the Louis Garneau booties (they're neoprene) for over my cycling shoes. I also have mountain shoes which aren't vented like the road shoes .... so that helps with warmth. I bought a Pearl Izumi vest (which I LOVE) and is wind-resistant and I have a Mountain Equipment Co-op jacket with reflective tape that is wind-proof. I have lined wind pants for the brutal days (and when it rains), and then my running tights are enough when it's not too bad. Down gloves or mitts were necessary for me this past winter - I hate my hands being cold. I will invest in a better neck warmer and band for my ears - I used polar fleece last year - but I'd like some technical winter stuff this year. I'm a little crazy - I biked until xmas last year and then from the end of February on. I plan on biking all year this year. (I have a mountain bike for the snow days now....) |
