Total Time = 1h 16m 41s
Overall Rank = 65/160
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 6/13
Pre-race routine:

Drove to race; Coffee PB Bagel and banana
Event warmup:

Short bike, run, very short swim
Swim
  • 10m 51s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

Glad no one was on my tail. Never swam faster than 2.5 min/100 in a race before so was pretty happy with the swim time which included a run to the transition mat.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, might go out a little harder. My tendency has been to go out too hard and fade, but I think I maintained my pace throughout the swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Bike
  • 36m 17s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost my chain and a lot of momentum up the biggest hill on the second lap. Got it back on quickly, but it was hard getting back up to race pace.
What would you do differently?:

Not lose my chain
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Run
  • 26m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Broke my 5K PR set a few weeks ago...felt good on the run. No mile markers and no HR monitor so went comfortably hard and it paid off.
Post race
Warm down:

walked a little, ate, mingled.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I feel this was the best I could hope for at this point.

Congrats Donna!  Sorry you lost your chain especially on that hill!!  That huge hill sucked didn't it.  You finished with a great time!

Excellent job, Donna! I have to agree that the post race food was excellent!

I really enjoyed this race, my second ever. The pool was the best water I have ever swam in.

Good luck with your Oly and 1/2 IM goals. I have very similar goals for this season, and this race was a great start to it.
