Awesome! Thanks!  I have to figure out if I'm going to opening day or not - but if not I'm definitely in!

Hmm, I wonder if I should get dropped off in Windsor so I can just bike back to the 'Burg? That makes more sense to me than driving and biking back and forth so many times. But I suppose we're in it for the workout more than the efficiency!

I'm from the Burg as well and am thinking of driving to the Chioch and then biking to the RF for 9am then looping to Aburg back to the Chioch and then driving home.

So the people meeting at Ciociaro are going to RF and then to A'burg? Or they are biking from RF to the Ciociaro and down Walker? (Which would make more sense to me, but I do understand that sometimes mileage comes before logic...)

I was thinking I would come to the Ciociaro, bike the entire route, then drive home - but that was before I knew the plan.

Now that I read Tracey's second post, I think I understand... I am a bit slow here! This will be my first big group ride. Embarassed

I didn't mean to confuse you...I am thinking of that to get the mileage without driving to the RFnot everyone is going to do that. The ride leaves RF at 9 am the stops at the Chioch for 9:45 continuing through to amherstburg then back.

This group doesn't leave anyone behind!!! There are varying abilities and sounds like there will be alot of riders. No worries!

here is a quote for a person that asked the same qeustion last year;

" as mentioned, you can hook up either at the RF at 9, or the ciociaro at 9:30-ish. from there the customary route has been the back concession roads out to a'burg for a stop for coffee/ espresso at the cafe on dalhousie for about 20 minutes before heading back into windsor. if you do the entire ride i think it's around 2-2.5 hours? pace is pretty reasonable for the most part (until matt gets some espresso into him anyway ) and there has historically been a good turnout so you'll very likely find at least a few people to ride with if things turn ugly on the way home
hope you join us!

-les. "

Whoa. I just saw the route map (I was going to make one of my own) and it's 40K one-way - so to do the entire ride (there and back plus espresso) in 2.5 hours boggles my mind. You are all much, much faster than me!

I just decided to only do the trip from Ciociaro to A'burg, and I will do my best to keep up but expect to be left in your dust!

I did the ride last year from the running factory. It was reasonable pace out the A'burg... the ride home was a little more 'competitive'. There are riders of all abilities and the pack basically divided into 3 groups (I think?) pretty quickly. Just find some of similar ability, ride together, and have fun! Don't blow up too far out, or the rest of the ride will suck... I was laboring from Ciaciaro back to the RF... wasn't fair that some ONLY did the Ciaciaro and back route

BTW, it was pretty frickin' cold last year (around freezing), so dress appropriately (especially noticeable on the way home when the pack was thinned out!).

Wish I could make it this year, but home renovations take too much time and I NEED to get them done before the summer.

Have a good ride!

Okay - I'm in! (No opening day for me ... *pout*

I also thought the 2-2.5hrs for 80k was fast - and I'm undecided as to doing half or all.  How long is the route from the Chicaro club to A-burg and back?  (I need to do a 48k ride this weekend...) How many are planning on doing the whole loop?

Thanks!

Hiya, I'm in Kingsville too. I do most of my rides along Road 50 and would welcome some company. I'm off to a slow start with my training this spring, and I'm nursing a cold after being away on vacation, so I probably won't be doing the ride on Friday.

I think I remember the ride being about 90-100K for the full loop and ~60K for the partial loop. The full loop was 3-3.5 hours, the partial was probably 2-2.5 hours. These times include the coffee break...

  • .. those concerned with the speed and riding in a group; this was my first 'real' group ride (I think there were 35-45 riders). Starting from the RF helped since the pace was slower and you could get used to a 'smaller' pack and how to ride/react. I found it quite easy to learn and the pace is much easier when you stay in the pack rather than lead.

  • If you have a decent base, you needn't worry, just be sure to prepare for the weather and enjoy the conversation (and expresso if your stomach can handle it mid-ride, which mine can't).
