Subject: Garmin uploads
Hi

Totally new here and trying to decide if I want to be uploading stuff ie Garmin run data. (also learning where stuff is on this site. There is a ton of info) I did do a couple of uploads to see what happens with it (how the process works and what happens to the data) and was told the uploads were successful but cannot see them anywhere on my training log? I am missing something. I went to the Training log info page but found how to's on most everything except what happens to the data when it is uploaded. Can you point me to the instructions? I guess I am asking (and not trying to sound sarcastic at all) "Why upload data?"

Thanks
Shawn

Why log training at all?

My answer is it gives me accountability as well as data points to return to and analyze.

Uplading data makes it easy to log your training. Basically you hook your Garmin to your computer, and in two mouse clicks your workout is transferred to your logs. Then you can have nice little graphs, like this interval work out:

And HR pie charts:

You will see the data in the 'blog view'

Though I don't see any icons/links indicated that you uploaded lap and HR data.  This will depend on the unit you have and if you have laps enabled and use a HR monitor.  Otherwise you will just get the time/distance imported which you seem to have unless you manually entered that.

I will look for it. The Garmin was connected and I just hit the "Import from Garmin" button and it started uploading. I then got the window saying upload successful.  Yes, I had both laps and my heart rate in the Garmin and on my computer in the Garmin training center

I did it for April 12 and April 16.

Yes, I manually entered time and distance info.

I will keep looking

Thanks

Try it again for the next workouts but don't manually enter the time/distance, just hit the 'import from garmin'.

WAIT, do you have your HR zones setup?  I don't see that you do.  Configure your HR zones for the bike and run (the little + in the blog view) or your 'settings'.  That may be why it's not showing it.

Also make sure you hit the save button, otherwise it will not save the data you just uploaded...

I will try setting up the zones and next time, ensuring I hit the "Save" button.

Thanks
