Subject: RE: I must be dumb: Garmin 705 EdgeIt's not you. The 705 appears to be one of the new units that doesn't support export of GPX files. It only supports map data exporting in TCX format. Unfortunately, the Route Tracker currently only supports importing of GPX data. At the time the Route Tracker was created, it looked like the whole world, including Garmin, was standardizing around GPX, so it was a no-brainer. Unfortunately for us, Garmin changed their mind on this one. Everyone else was zigging and Garmin zagged. Not to be critical of them, I can kind of see where they're coming from. From what I've seen, their engineers are very talented and tend to make good decisions. Not to worry, though, a solution is coming. Forerunner 405s have the same issue, and at this very moment I'm attempting my first sync of a shiny new 405 that the UPS guy dropped off today. This was done in a break of my completely rewriting the workout uploading process to be faster, more stable and to support uploading multisport workouts. The problem you're currently experiencing is next on the list. A complete rewrite of the Route Tracker is also coming, but that's going to be a fairly big project so we'll throw in a quick fix for the TCX file issue before taking it on. |
