Total Time = 1h 24m 5s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 12/33
Pre-race routine:

Had some coffee, drank a protein shake. I got a late start out my door, so when I got to Ft. Desoto I was in a rush.
Event warmup:

No time for a warm-up. Ran to the swim start which was about .25 mile. Put my wetsuit on the beach.
Swim
  • 14m 59s
  • 800 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was my first wetsuit swim and it was good. I was nervous about the whole wetsuit thing but it was nothing. My breathing was every stroke instead of every other which is what I do in training. I felt like my form just went to hell out there - your just trying to get there, you know?
What would you do differently?:

Sight less often.
Transition 1
  • 02m 34s
Comments:

This is what I was really nervous about-getting the suit off. It was fine. A litte trouble at the ankles but not much. However, I threw the suit on the running shoes so they were wet when I put them on later for the run! Duh...
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 36m 24s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Holy cow the wind was STRONG!! The strongest wind I have ever ridden in! At one point I was going just over 10mph. But of course after the turn around I got up to over 24mph. I am very happy with the time given the conditions.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more. This was also my first time using an aerobottle. I liked it.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

I forgot to get my feet out of the shoes before transition so I had to run in my shoes. No big deal.
What would you do differently?:

Speed laces.
Run
  • 28m 8s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs felt fine but I had stitches the entire time, like always. I always lose places on the run.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing. Walked around. I felt so darn good!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition, I guess. I'm working on it.

Event comments:

This is my second season, my third sprint distance race. I am happy to see a good amount of improvement in all areas since last fall. The most noticeable difference was how I felt after the race. I felt like I could go out and do it again rather than feeling like I had to barf and/or pass out like last season. I had a grin on my face all morning. Hooray for the beginning of race season!!!
