Anyone familiar with this race? WILLIAMS LAKE RESORT, ROSENDALE, NEW YORK

I used to do mtb races up there in the fall if it's where i'm thinking it's like an old summer resort and I believe they had an offroad tri in late May this year.

Check out the website, they have videos up from the offroad tri back in may. it looks VERY small, kind of like a club event, there is one race before the 7/4 race. that said, I have done some more small local events that I have loved so don;t be put off. really depends what you like out of a race - maybe call teh RD and ask. the organisers do put on the american Zofingen - a long distance du in the fall, so i think the are proficient in race organising.

Did you get any more info on this race by any chance? I was thinking about it as well...I am a pretty slow swimmer though..but I haven't figured out whether its better to be in a big race being passed by waves behind me (but at least being around middle of packers from the waves behind me) or all alone in the middle of the lake with everyone ahead of me! :-) Is the course hilly for the bike and run? I was going to call them and ask but just curious if you found out more. Thanks

Its the 2nd in a series of 4 summer sprints put on by the catskill mountain multisport group. I wasn't at the first one but I heard it was fun (especially the run, goes through a cave apparently) and I plan on doing the one on the 4th. It is small as someone already mentioned, I think only 20-something racers for the first one.

I'm one of the organizers and would be happy to answer any questions. You can call me at 845.750.0719. We're grass roots and like things small and intimate. We create the types of races we want to race ourselves. The course is a beauty.

For the swim, the slower swimmers were accompanied by myself in a rowboat. I'll race on the 4th, but there will be a boat nearby so no need to be nervous about being "alone". You won't be. The races are designed with beginners in mind, as well the more seasoned racer. We're definitely not intimidating.

Are you the same Dr. Bob who raced the Rhinebeck crit this week and was tearing up the T run?
