Overall Rank = 239/309

Age Group Rank = 5/7
Pre-race routine:

Packed the car, Ate a clif bar drank some HEED and checked out the transition area.
Swim
  • 09m 44s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 57s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was my best swim ever. I was able to draft for about half of the race!
What would you do differently?:

Not drift so wide to the right of the first buoy.
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

There was an uphill section out of the T1, so I was glad to have been able to just jump on the bike cyclocross style and just pedal up. A guy behind me had trouble stopping at the mount zone and clipping in. As I took off, I here "aww @#$!" following plastic sliding noises.
Bike
  • 38m 36s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.76 mile/hr
Comments:

I finally got to do a tri with my HED deep front and Disc wheel. I also changed my bike position the week before to a more aggressive posture. It worked out!! And to the 3 other people I fought it out with.... Great job!
What would you do differently?:

nothing at all
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

I forgot to slip my feet out of the shoes because there was a downhill to the dismount zone so I was on the brakes. I was able to jump off the bike with my shoes on and that wasn't too bad. I sounded like a horse running though! :-)
What would you do differently?:

dismount with shoes off.
Run
  • 46m 48s
  • 3 miles
  • 15m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

This is where my race time looks really funny compared to my swim/bike. If you read my last race result from Strawberry Fields in Oxnard, you'll know that I have ITBS. For this race, I decided (while attempting to run @ Strawberry Fields) that I was going to just walk the 3 miles. It wasn't too bad! My IT band was hurting a little due to my running through transition. I think I made the right decision to walk the run. However, the race announcer was rude when I came through the chute. He didn't even say my name/location over the microphone. (To the Race announcer: If you see this, you should ease up on people. and stop being so damn sexist!) Anyway, I thought I did rather well! And if I keep up the recovery I will be running again in no time!
What would you do differently?:

nothing!
Post race
Warm down:

3 mile walk of the 3 mile run course! lol :-)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

ITBS

Event comments:

I would have been happier if the race announcer wasn't so rude, he made a comment, "look! the girls is gonna pass you! you can at least run!" anyway, I think my swim/bike more than made up for it

AWESOME swim/bike.  I'm totally in the same boat with the ITBS.  I do great on the swim and the bike, but I can't run.  GReat speed on your bike.  IF you want to see some REALLY pathetic run times check out my races.  I have an olympic on Sunday and I may have to DNF bc I con't run due to hip pain.  Hope you feel better soon and next year you will crush the competition and make the announcer feel like the idiot he is.  Take care -SMO
