Comments: Okay, so not an official time yet, but my watch time said 56:33.42. Just got my offical time and it was 56:33, so I guess I've become very good at using my watch. I don't know any age group or M/F placing yet as it wasn't in the paper, but maybe it will be on the Internet tomorrow. The run went well for me. I ended up doing the first kilometer in 5:21 and the first mile in about 8.5 minutes. The first two kilometers (or at least the first one) are downhill though. I usually gain time in the first couple kilometers of this race. Of course you have more energy too and you go a bit faster to try to dodge people. I felt a bit slower on the Burrard street bridge this year than in previous years, but my time at Burrard Street was better than it was in previous years too so I guess I was using more energy before the bridge (5-6km mark) and getting a better time because of it, so that is good. I think the 7km - 9km is where I slowed down a bit, but then I was able to kick it up again at kilometer 9. A couple of times I actually felt like I was going to throw up and I've never felt that way before. I felt quite tired when I finally stopped and didn't have any energy left at all. Again I felt like I could throw up. So I guess it means that I didn't have any energy left and ran the race as fast as I could? What would you do differently?: I should incorporate more hill training into my running. I'm also going to try to take split times with my stop watch. Post race
Warm down: Some light stretching in some very cramped quarters at BC place. Also did a lot of walking around and a bit of a walk back to the car. Ate a mini-bagel, banana, orange slice and yogurt drink in BC place, then two poached eggs and three small pancakes for breakfast afterward. What limited your ability to perform faster: I guess just more training. Event comments: Fun race. It's the biggest 10km in Canada and the second largest in North America, I think? Also your results go in the paper. Last updated: 2005-04-12 12:00 AM

Went to sleep early at 10:00pm and up at 6:20am. Drove down to the race with Hans and Blanche. Had Vector with banana and skim milk for breakfast at 6:20am and an Oatmeal bar about half an hour before the race began (8:30am). Wore a hooded jacket, t-shirt and pants and kept warm waiting for the race to begin.
Jogged on the spot for a bit.
