Subject: Bummed and happy at the same time

For the first time in about 14 years I have been below 200 for a full week. I weigh my self in the morning to keep it consistent so with water and normal day weight is about 2-3 lbs heaver but for how happy I am that I broke my barrier and now trying to get to 195 I'm bummed that I won't be a Clydesdale that much longer. I like thinking of my self as a bigger guy and my dream weight is 190 which is still not small but I liked thinking of my self as a Clydesdale

It sounds like that whole feeling ~ I'm so happy I'm losing weight - look at me, I look great (hey that rhymed...) ~ then you realize you have to start investing in smaller clothes... which means more $$

Yep already there. Had to buy some more work cloths last week. I'm down to a 34" waist from a 43"

I started training at about 210.  I've been active for several years, so I didn't expect to lose a whole lot of weight.  If I really really really wanted to, I could do no weight training and get down to 190, but I don't see the point.

In any event, I was bummed as well as the last 3 days in a row now I've weighed in at 199.  I'm more bummed than happy about this, because I didn't get into training to lose weight, and now it will be nearly impossible to win my division :-\.

P.S. My waist is probably a 32/33, but I can't buy pants any smaller than 36 because my cycling quads won't fit into them. Anyone else have this problem?

Congrats!  I think stories like this help keep some of us going.  Only 55 more pounds to go for me.

I started training / working out back in November weight was 215. Began serious training for First Tri in April, Hped on the scale last week and weight was 199, now 198. Have at least two more races this year. Contacted the RD and they told me it was okay to race age group.

I still think of myself as a Clyde.

I started to work out at 260 started running at 240 and started thinking about doing a Tri at 205. I'm currently 197 but that’s in the morning when I wake up. With water and breakfast I could make a 200.0 weigh in I think

What a cool thing to be bummed about. Wish I had that "problem" I know what you mean though... my goal is to eventually get below Athena (150) but I'll always have a very strongly wired fondness for everything Athena.

Congrats on the success though!

I have the same problem.  If  don't carefully select the right jeans, I look like a hobo.  extra material bunching up under my belt.  I now buy jeans at the buckle.  They have several different types of jeans, named after male first names-kinda weird- but I have had success in getting some that fit both my waist and my legs.

About to be in the same happy/sad boat. After my run today my dehydrated weight said 199 down from 225 this winter. I'm aiming for 185 by October so I'm not buying clothes for a bit. I did have to bust out my "skinny" shorts that I've worn once in 10 years when I dieted to below 200 before the inevitable return to 225. This time I'm losing weight through exercise and not just diet so I'm really hoping I have the power to make it stick. I feel so much better!

in this weeks Men's Fitness there was a blurb about the founder of a company that makes Dress pants with a wider leg for athletic men with larger legs.  I will look it up tonight when I get home and post the info.
