BT Rawk Squaders -
I thought that I would pass this along in order to help a triathlete's recovery from a horrible accident.
On Saturday, May 30, while training for Ironman, Mike Orris had a bike accident on Lapeer Road. It is believed that Mike hit a pothole and fell into traffic. Two cars were able to avoid him but it is believe that he was hit by the third vehicle. Mike sustained a broken clavicle, ear damage, shattered sinus cavity, broken ribs and a significantly head injury.
He is in the hospital and out of the medically induced coma, however the extent of the head injury is still unknown.
I wanted all ofyou to know that there will be fundraising activites going on over the next few weeks to help his family through his recovery.
In a letter from Tim Krause:
For the next three Mondays, we will have an event at Mother's Pizza located at 44675 Five Mile Road in Plymouth. The owner, Dan Sheehan, has generously agreed to donate a fairly large percentage of all sales on these Mondays.
He has also agreed that all customer sales (either dine in or take out) on the next three Mondays will be applied to the Mike Orris Fundraiser.
I am asking that you identify yourself so that he can see how much of a sales increase we will be giving him. Just tell your server that you are there for the Mike Orris Fundraiser.
I am sure that we will pack the place so bring some patience and some room to drink some beer while you wait.
The first fundraiser will be held Monday, June 15th. The second will be held Monday, June 22nd. The last day will be on Monday June 29th. There will also be a silent auction that night beginning at 8:30 p.m.
We are asking for donations for that silent auction. If you have anything you would like to donate, please drop an email to Tim Krause ([email protected]) or Joanne Randolph ([email protected]) with your information. We will compile a complete list of what will be available for bid.
If you have any questions, please feel free to give Tim Krause a call at 734-276-9135. Stay tuned for great news about Mike and for other ways we can have fun helping Mike, Jen and the Kids.
As a reminder that should go without saying, safety first out there!
