Subject: Mounting Aerobars?
I currently ride a Specialized Allez Sport with road bars and I want add a pair of aerobars (at this point probably Profile Design Carbon Stryke).  The current road bars are considered 31.8 because that is the measurement at the mount.  However, starting at about an inch outside the mount, they taper down to where the drops start.  Has anyone run into any problems mounting clip-ons to these types of bars?  Any workarounds?

my carbon strykes came with shims...the shims make the fit really snug

On my road bike, I have the FSA Carbon Handlebars that also taper in various places. I used pieces of an old bike inner tube to shim.

All 31.8s are tapered like that... see attached photo of a typical aero bar installation....
