![]() Swim
Comments: Due to the swim being the last portion of the race, I think I was already kind of wiped out (and didn't even realize it). Had the swim been first, I may have had a better time at it. My normal training times for 400 meters is about 11:00 even, so this was slow for me. I am not a strong swimmer, but this was just pathetic. What would you do differently?: When I jumped into the pool, I felt very confident. I wasn't nervous, and I felt ready. Then, when other people started piling into the lane and we were all bunched up, I started to panic. People were kicking all kinds of ways, and I couldn't pass anyone. At the end of the lane, I tried to wait to let the group get far enough ahead of me, but then I would catch back up to them again. It was just really frustrating. This was my first time to ever swim with more people in the lane than just myself. Now that I know what to expect, I will (hopefully) do better next time. The good news is, that the last 2 lengths of the pool went well for me. I think by the time I got to that point, I was beginning to get more comfortable. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Since this race was in reverse order, this transition does not really apply to me. Also, because of the reverse order, transition times were not included in the results. ![]() Bike
Comments: I really enjoyed the bike segment. The BEST part about it, was I got to ride my new Quintana Roo, and I really felt comfortable on it. The ride during the race was the best ride that I have had on this new bike. I am finally getting used to it being so small and so fast! What would you do differently?: I would ride faster! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: good transition ![]() Run
Comments: The run went well for me. I was calm, and ready to race. What would you do differently?: Nothing...it was great. ![]() Post race
Warm down: got out of the pool, caught my breath, and got into some warm, dry clothes What limited your ability to perform faster: I would have done better if I had been better mentally prepared for the swim. I thought that I was ready, but I had no idea that it would be so tough swimming with so many other people! Last updated: 2005-04-25 12:00 AM

I got everything set up at the transition area. Due to the cold temperatures, the order of events was changed to run, bike, swim. The line for pre-registered entrants moved rather slowly, making me think that I might not have time to get my head together before the race. Luckily, getting the chip and body paint went quickly, so I had plenty of time to make sure everything was set.
I did not do much warming up for the run. I did stretch a bit, but it was too cold to do much else, and there wasn't really a lot of time for warming up either.
