Subject: A day 6 years in the making, and why I haven't trained much this week. :)Good thing this was a taper week, because I even slacked off on THAT. Yesterday morning, I graduated my residency in general surgery! It's a mere 6 years of training--5 years of clinical work and 1 year full-time in a research lab. And it's finally done! Woohoo! The official graduation ceremony was yesterday, and today is our department's end-of-year picnic, so I'm glad I got my little bike check ride in this morning... Then it's off to the picnic where, being one of the graduates I can't leave till the end. Right after that I have to get to downtown DC because I have to pick up my packet and rack my bike in transition tonight for my race. Then it's back into Georgetown for the annual department dinner for vascular surgery, the department where I'll be working as a fellow starting July 1st. I'll probably be in bed by 10-11 for a 4AM wakeup and a 6:30 start for my race. Who says life gets in the way of racing? |
