 5 |  Subject: wet suit too tight at neckThis is my first Tri, at 46. I've only gotten three OWS with my wet suit in so far, race is in 2 weeks. Bought a cheap one at Ocean state job lot. The suit is not too tight but the collar really bothers me. I've been told this is normal but it still freaks me out...and I am otherwise pretty relaxed in the water. I have resorted to keeping it unzipped a bit in the back....I am wondering if some suits don't ride up so much around the neck.. I want one with lower neck line.....? Thanks for any advice! |

Master 1651     Breckenridge, CO | Subject: RE: wet suit too tight at neck I'm just making this up out of my head but I'd think the neck would have to be tight to keep water from going inside the wetsuit while swimming which would slow you down enormously. BTW, mine is tight too in the neck under my chin but fits perfectly otherwise. |

| 5 | Subject: RE: wet suit too tight at neck interesting....maybe a higher neck would work better......... my collar is right at the base of my neck so it feels like choking a bit... a higher collar that sits higher on my neck might feel different..... it also may just be something I have to get used to......kind of like geting use to the bike seat! I am trying hard to remember that there is just a HUGE ammt. to learn as a newbie!! Thanks! |

Expert 2547 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: wet suit too tight at neck Make sure you hike the wetsuit all the way up into your crotch/butt. A lot of people don't pull it high and tight which causes the top half of your suit and more specifically the neck area to pull a bit. Kinda like if you grab the bottom of your tshirt (front or back) and pull on it, the collar moves/tugs on your neck. If that doesn't work then you might need a different style. Wetsuits all fit differently.... |

| Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: wet suit too tight at neck x2 on making sure you spend some time pulling it up (I think of it like pulling up pantyhose). And then pull it up some more. When you think you've got it pulled up all the way, do it one more time  Mine felt like I was being choked the first couple of times as well - it was not fun. I had to stop once to unzip it in the middle of a swim to get relief. It has gotten substantially better though, I think becuase I pull it up much more now than I originally did. |

I know its going to bother you for a while, but I bet you will get used to it if you stick with it. The first few times I wore my new suit, it felt pretty tight up top as well, but after a few swims, it got more comfortable. |
