Comments: Swimming in a small 25ydYD. pool allowed me to cheat (rest) plenty at shorter intervals. Swimming in a 50M. pool taught me I need to work on endurance more than anything else and to stop cheating when turning at the wall. Must learn to flip and when swimming in smaller pool, don't kick off. What would you do differently?: If I must swim in a short pool, I will not kick off the wall so I can build endurance. Was loosing my breathe at 200M. Need to learn to flip 9that would have helped a lot here). I need to train more, that's for sure. Transition 1
Comments: Need to practice on the clipless more. Fumbled a lot more than usual (probably due to the excitement). What would you do differently?: Will eventually learn to get on bike with shoes clipped on. Not bad though for a first race. Practice, practice, practice! It's fun and its good for you. Bike
Comments: Made sure helmet was on first. Started out slowly (as planned). Did not use socks for the bike segment and will do again (shoes are comfortable enough for short races). Drank just enough water and was able to remember to pace myself so as not to waste my energy and legs for the run. After doing the loops, I took it a bit slow returning to T2 (as planned). Most stayed to the right as instructed but could easily tell the first timers from the more experienced ones. One girl got a flat but seemed to have changed it pretty quickly (she was gone by the time I did my third loop). What would you do differently?: Like in everything else I need a lot of practice. After doing the loops, I took it a bit slow returning to T2. Need to unstrap shoes and remove next time, feet hurt running from dismount-point to T2. Transition 2
Comments: Fumbled a lot and wasted time with sox and running shoe laces. Almost left helmet on. Had pinned race number (with Alyssa's baby pink pins), on to T-shirt at last minute. Some idiot that had already finished decided to rest his bike up against mine and take over my transition area (putting his front tire on my towel). I thre it on the ground, he got annoyed but didn't say a word after I stood face to fac ready to kill or be killed (HR must have been at it's highest here). What would you do differently?: Get number belt for faster time. Consider running with out sox next time to save time (everything was soaked anyway from the AM due on the grass). Need to get shoe laces straps for faster times and less fubling due to excitement. Run
Comments: Had to stop a bit two times. Was more tired than out of breath. Still have more weight to lose. Almost missed the gatorade that I was happy they had. Sorry to see so many people throwing their cups on the floor when there was a garbage can only 200 meters away. What would you do differently?: TRAIN MORE!!! Post race
Warm down: No cool down but did stretch a bit afterwards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being a bit overweight still and need to build endurance not only on runs but strenght for transition recovery. Event comments: Was very well prepared for a first even. I cannot think of anything that should change to make it better. I'm sendind an e-mail to Andreas (event organizer), for putting up such a fun and safe event. Since it was a staggered start, I was #73 (from my swim time), and moved my way up to 45. I'm real proud of that! Goal for next year is get top placing in my age group (they where only a few minutes ahead of me). Last updated: 2005-03-24 12:00 AM

Made sure I was there nice and early (20min before reg). As I dressed in the locker, I tried to run the next steps (keeping ahead).
Only got a chance to warm up with 150 meters but felt good and calmed the nerves a bit for at least that much.
