OK. Not to sound sexist but was hoping for some advice from the guys. Have a stock seat on a Trek Road bike. I have become used to the chaffing and the numbness that follows my weekend rides. This last week i experienced a new sensation - forgive me INXS - it felt like someone lit a match and put it on the tip of the penis- needless to say there was no fire. Getting out of the saddle for brief spurts helped but I am training for IM St George and the rides are only going to get longer. A friend, coincidentally, experienced the same thing one day later and his coach rec a seat change to fizik. I was wondering what other thoughts were out there about saddle types, etc....

desperate for relief - next long ride in 3 more days

Of course, get your fit checked, put in enough miles to get used to it, yada yada. "Parts on fire" is not normal, even on a crummy saddle.

Didn't have that exact problem, but I tried several "nosed" saddles to get one that was comfortable and finally went with the Adamo Race saddle. Problems solved. I do have to admit that the Fizik Arionne Tri2 that came stock on my P2 is the best "nosed" saddle I've ridden to date, so I'm sticking with that for now.

A saddle is a very personal choice....for good reason. You should experiment and try different ones. I found one that I can ride 7-9 hours on with no problems...then they stopped making them. ARRGH. So I had to go on ebay and call bike shops to buy out the remaining existing stock!

Just got an Adamo and it relieved the parts immediately. Some previously never touched soft tissue needs to toughen up b/c of the new touch points but that's no big deal at all.

Are you riding a road bike with clip on aero bars with a regular road saddle?  I've heard this can cause issues without some adjustments.

Yes to the clip on aero and stock seat. Trying to buy time before getting Tri Bike.
