Hey everyone,

I am new to multisport, and wanted to get an idea of whose in my area, and maybe find someone to train with. I live in Hickory Corners, also known as the middle of nowhere. The closest town is Richland.

I am training this year, and plan to run my first tri next year. I am planning on running the 5k section of the Sherman Lake YMCA's Sherminator, on Aug. 1st.

While my wife and I are not currently members of the YMCA, we plan to join this fall, to gain access to a pool. Currently, I am focusing on my run, and just purchased a tri bike (Felt's S32). I am running 3 miles nearly every other day.

I ride to work daily, however being new to the tri bike, I am getting used to the aero position.

If anyone is in the area, it would be great to meet up.

Hello from Battle Creek.

Your on the edge of a pretty good size triathlon community. Be sure to join the Kalamazoo Tri-Kats, its a very good group. We have weekly group rides and a weekly Open Water Swim. We dont hold monthly meetings during the Summer, but should get back in the swing of things this Fall.

Keep in touch.

@ mifiremedic: I have been to the Tri-Kats website before, and will probably see some of em in August for the Sherminator. I dont plan on running the tri this year, but do plan on running the 5k.

@ CraigT: I would love to meet up and train sometime, theres got to be something around the Yankee Springs area.

I live just by the Yankee Springs rec area, the roads around here are great for running and biking.  I'm game anytime for a ride or a run, just let me know.

Welcome to BT - this is by far the best, most supportive, as well as slightly crazy, group of people you'll ever meet!

By the way, like the avatar - I take it you were Navy?

Very cool.  I was in 6 years.  2 years with VAW-125 aboard the Saratoga and then ended up with spec ops out of the DIA.  Good times

Hawkeye's, now thats fun to watch it take off. I remember watching a safety video (gotta love em) about walking around those. Big no no walking between the prop and plane.

I was Sea-op Det on the Kennedy, part of the air wing. If you get a chance, look at CV 67 on wikipedia, near the bottom, look over the CO list. I dont remember the exact dates, but I know that on my first workup our CO was Capt. Henderson.... My enlistement ended in May of 06, and they were looking for yet another CO. We went through 5 CO's in about 2 years.
