I decided to start a thread wherein we could post lake conditions, since they change so quickly and there is a high risk of nastiness in many of the lakes. Also I can pad my post count.

Anyway, tonight I was at Governor Nelson Park and I can say that the water conditions there are great. There was no algae at all in the water and no weeds that I could see on the surface (although it was dark). There were two weeds under the surface but I pulled 'em out for you. So yeah, Governor Nelson looks good right now.

Wish I had something new to say...but -

I too was at Gov Nelson today and it was really nice.  I hadn't been there since the Capitol View Tri and the water has gotten quite a bit warmer in the lake and it is still algae/weed free for the most part.

Great idea on the lake update.

My group swam at Picnic Point on Friday and it wasn't bad at all.  The water is a little warm, but nothing like Wingra.

I swam in Ripley yesterday. The water is very warm, almost bathwaterish, but it wasn't nasty otherwise. No algae and just a few weeds.

Two updates:

The Verona quarry was amazingly clean and semi cool this morning.  Granted it was windy so lots of the surface weeds had blown to the opposite shoreline. I am swimming there tomorrow morning.

Checked out picnic point this afternoon.  The side closest to the hospital was gross and stinky. The other side by the little beach was very clean.  Didn;t get in the water, but there were people swimming amongst the white caps.

Is there anywhere to park at Picnic Point? I've only ever been out there on a run.... And, where on the mile pennisula do you actually swim?

There is a small lot, but I am not sure of the hours during the day.  The walk is about 10 minutes and there is a small sand beach on the side away from the hospital.  Water looked great on Sunday.

I was swimming in the quarry yesterday and it was way cleaner than earlier this season.  Temps were perfect with a wetsuit on too.

Silly, you can't swim ON the peninsula.

Somewhere about .6 to .75 miles out from the stone wall heading out on the dirt trail, to the left, is a makeshift beach area.  I saw a bunch of kids swimming/goofing around out there last week during my 19 mile run on Wed.
