Duplin, Eastern Sampson, Southern Wayne?

i'm from kinston.  Depending upon which end of Duplin you are in, either Goldsboro or Wilmington.  The Y in Goldsboro has a great pool and for biking check in with Bicycle World on Ash Street. I think that is a good clearing house for rides.  Good group of triathletes in that town.

Wilmington has a good group as well.  You may check with canadianrn or Nick on these boards.  They are from Wilmington and I think they have a good group down there.

Thanks so much for the reply.  I'm thinking of doing rides with the club in Goldsboro on Tuesday nights since I'm not such a great rider yet. 

I gave my husband the choice of the Goldsboro YMCA or the Wellness Center in Clinton.  He thinks that Clinton is close enough to save on gas so I'm going to check that one out first. It seems like a Y and seems to have a more flexible schedule with the lap swimming.

I guess I just kind of wanted to see if there was anyone else in the area doing triathlons.  It doesn't seem to be a very big thing around here even with all the races in driving distance   On the bright side, I'm going to take advantage of te short driving distance to all the races

there is actually a strong tri group in Goldsboro/Wayne County. Several of those guys can place high in their age groups and one is always in contention in the overall category.

My older son and I will be doing Goldsboro Tri this year.  Usually well attended and you will meet some people you may be able to form training groups with.

Over here in Kinston there are 4 of us tri geeks that I know of, with me and my oldest son being two of them.  I guess I should say 5, because my younger son does kid races too.  We don't train as a group since we are all at different levels/ race preferences, but almost all go the local races. 

with finish strong and setup, there are now races through out the season in New Bern, Greenville/Grimesland, Washington and Goldsboro.  All are sprints except Washington which has gone to an olympic distance.  New Bern is the only pool swim.  Lake Kristi and Goldsboro are in lakes, Washington in in the Pamlico River.

Of course Wilmington has I think 5 races now.  3 sprints, a 1/2 iron distance and a full iron distance.  All those races are within driving distance the morning of the race, which saves on hotel bills.
