JuliaPurr and I are putting together another Copper Triangle ride Saturday morning. This is a great ride for all abilities. I think Julia wants to start fairly early. I will post the time once we figure that out. We will meet at the Copper Mountain Starbucks. Last year we had a nice group of riders of various abilities and everyone finished. Some of us bricked at 5 mile run after the ride (I may do that again). It is an awesome ride! Come join us!! The Copper Triangle (or Leadville Loop as it is called by many) has long been considered one of Colorado’s classic alpine road rides. Graced with breathtaking scenery, gorgeous roads and three challenging climbs, the Copper Triangle exemplifies cycling in the Colorado Rockies. 80 miles and lots of climbs and lots of fast descents! Here is a link to a map and elevation guide. I usually do it in the opposite direction... so that it is a downhill finish. http://www.coppertriangle.com/course.html http://www.coppertriangle.com/maps.html

OK, I'm a dumb-azz!! I meant Sunday, July 5th. Saturday is a trail race in Breckenridge.

At this point yes... I have to see how my quads do this week. As of today, there is no way that I can run downhill.

I think I would like to join in.  The earlier the better as I would like to finish up and head back to Denver before the July 4th traffic gets to bad.  So if you decide on an early start time that will be good by me...

I'm going for a bike ride now... when I get back I'll call Julia and nail down a start time. Check back here! I'm stoked that you are joining us!

OK all, we are meeting at the Copper Mountain Starbucks at 7ish... We are hoping to be pedaling by 7:30. The ride should take 4.5-6.5 hours depending on your ability and how many rest stops that you take.

The nice thing about this loop is that there are multiple stops to refuel. I usually do in Minturn and in Leadville.

bring a light jacket and or/arm warmers just in case, other than that the weather looks great at this point.

You will be so stoked that you did this ride!

I'm definately in and will be ready to ride by 730 on Sunday.  I'm pretty excited as it has been many years since i have done this ride!  I'm working on getting Ray (raise99) to join as well!  Either way, I'll be there.

I really want to do this ride but I'll have a house full of guests and so I won't be able to commit. I'm going to try hard to sneak out and be there.

Get your guests good and snookered on the 4th and we will be done before they are even ready for brunch!

I still plan on meeting up at Copper on Sunday for the ride.  One question, I'm pretty certain I have been to the Starbucks inside the Copper Resort...this is the designated meeting place? So I should plan at parking my car at the resort?  Sorry, seems there is new Starbucks popping up all over the place and I want to be sure I'm at the right meeting place.

No. Once you take the Copper exit you will see the only gas station at that exit. Attached to the gas station is a Starbucks. You can't miss it and plenty of free parking. DD

The group keeps growing... should be at least 10 people now of various abilities... Everyone will have someone to ride with and a lot of fun. Secret rumor: Triathlon Superstar and All American D3 Coach Mark Dillard is joining us! He looks great in Spandex!

Hey Drew, that is awesome! Have you met my friend Brett? He was once and active BTer, but not anymore (Alpine87), anyway, he is the guy I drove to IMAZ with... he is joining now too. He is a cool f#cker. We are going to have a big group, I don't think you will be the last one in this year haha...

Okay okay I'll come too. I'll have to ditch my dog Consuela and my friend Beth, but I could use a good hard ride in the mountains.

Now no one else needs to worry about being the slowest.
