After a little rough Half Ironman I decided to really clean up my eating and get after my training. I have been eating much better since then, even though it's been only a couple of weeks. Yesterday we ate out at the golden arches. I splurged and got my usual, chicken nuggets and fries. After eating it I felt like I was going to hurl. It just felt so greasy and nasty in my gut. Has anybody else experienced this after they started eating better?

Absolutely! Once you stop eating super fatty and salty foods, your body rejects them if you put a lot of it back in. I'd bet you felt a lot worse later that day too!

Eating fast food is inevitable for me since my job forces me to drive all day every day. I picked up a book called "eat this not that" and it basically tells you what the best options are at most FF places. If you don't eat out all that often, just ask to see the nutritional data before you order and pick something better than processed/fried chix nuggets!!

Definitely.  Hubby talks me into those golden arches once in a while and right after I eat I always have to go take a nap because it knocks me on my butt and makes me slow and cranky.  Bleh.  But it tastes so good until it's in your tummy!

I agree on "Eat This, Not That".  If you have an iPhone or crackberry or whatever, they also have a pretty good website which can help you decide.  It's at http://eatthis.menshealth.com/

I have to admit when I'm rushed and don't have time to make something good or didn't have something ready in the freezer, I've stopped at mickey D's for something off the dollar menu, usually the mcdouble w/o cheese and sometimes a coke.
The taste just doesn't seem to be as good anymore, nor satisfying, but its a belly filler, is all, to fend off cravings that could lead to the vending machine at work.

I wish I did. Then I might stop eating fast food all together.

I am vegetarian though... so most fast food I can't even eat. But I can take some some french fries and onion rings and my stomach is FINE afterwards.

Absolutely. I can't touch any alfredo-sauced pasta. I feel like puking whenever I even get a taste of it.

I can deal with fast food still. Wendy's has some decent stuff there, but I can't break my relationship with Taco Bell.

Oh, and talking about nastiness, a couple of years ago I went to Arby's on a long car trip, my brother got some curly fries. I had a couple, and then made the mistake of wiping my hands on my white polo shirt. It looks like somebody had taken a highlighter to my shirt. Needless to say, I haven't had the curly fries since. Their new roast-burgers are pretty good, though.

I was eating noting but fresh (no sodium) foods.. mainly veggies for 3 months..... went to a Sebastian Bach and Poison (yes I'm 80's) 2 hours from my house.  On the way, I was starving and the only thing around was a tacobell and KFC combo joint.  I stopped, ordered some hot wings from the KFC side and a bean buritto from the TB side.  Got to the concert, and I spent the entire concert in the rest room.  Will never do that again!

I noticed something very similar to this when I started watching my sugar intake. In the shortened version, I used to eat regular yoplait yogurt, then switched to greek yogurt, and used honey as a sweetner. While at work one day, I ate a regular yogurt, and was unable to finish it because of all the sugar.

Its crazy how our tolerances get built up to things, and how much we recognize it when its corrected.
