Member![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It seems to fit me, but I have never had a road bike before and am not sure what a good fit is. I was told that a tri bikes are not that comfortable for regular riding and most of my riding will be training and I want to be comfortable. So I was going road bike. How do you know if a bike fits right? |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Make sure you get the LBS people to help you get fitted on a bike, dont just go in there and buy one cuz its on sale. Tell them your concerns, what you want to do, and they should be able to help you out. A road bike will feel weird at first, so its hard to trust yourself with what feels "comfortable." As to tri vs road... if youre only going to be doing tris, why not get a tri bike? It wouldnt be that much more money, and you know its built for your sport. |

How do you know if a bike fits right? That's not true. If it fits you properly, it is just as uncomfortable as a road bike. ![]()

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() x2 on going for a tri bike if that's the sport you will focus on but also as long as you aren't doing too many group rides, people are always asking about tri bikes in groups on here and it seems best to use a bike with drop bars and standard brake/gear set up. I don't group ride so don't have the issue. For the price you are looking, that is a nice enough deal, I have seen in the same price range a Felt B12 from last year. but for less, around $1500 the Felt S32 2009, it's not a carbon frame, but a really good Alu one, it has great equipment for the price tag 105/ultegra. ( I bought one a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it). Plus if you are buying this year's model of any bike, chances are you will be able to get the LBS to order the perfect fit for you rather than making a 2008 bike fit to sell it....not saying they would do that, but they do run a business at the end of the day. in the end Tri vs Road, up to you and it's not wrong either way really, whatever suits your fit and budget. but for that budget, you will for sure get a better ride and hopefully be the one passing 100 people next time out. good luck.

x3 No discomfort on the tri bike versus road bike. Drop bars on standard road bikes do give more hand placement options, but a road bike with clip on aero bars is not going to be the same as a tri bike IMO. |

I was riding my mtb and got passed by Yes, it would be a good bike... if it fits and you enjoy riding it. The price point is not amazing... but rather typical. So you aren't getting a great deal on it, but you aren't getting over charged either. Have you test rode other bikes to compare fit and ride? It's always a good idea to do that, just to compare. I know I looked at Giant's but found the ride pretty uninspiring compared to other bikes. |
