Subject: RE: Coaches?kendallwebb - 2009-07-02 1:05 AM I'm farily new to triathlons, about a year or so. I'm not as dedicated as I need to be but i need a plan and somebody to push me. I was wondering, are there any cheap coaches online. I have looked online and they are like $200+ dollars. There is no way I can afford that much. I don't want to get ripped off but i understand you can't have the best if you don't pay. I was curious, does anybody know of any good coaches that are not as expensive? it is expensive enough just to compete in one, and I am looking to get better at the bike espically, but it is hard when you are new and not sure what you really need to be doing.
Thanks Last year, I wanted to improve on the bike so I hired a coach to develop a plan for it only (no swim/no run ). It was cheaper, but of course didn't help balance out all three sports which was a problem for me. This year I bit the bullet and hired a triathlon coach and I am really glad I did. He is in the price range you describe above, but is completely hands on--he provides plans on TP, meets with me to improve my swim and bike technique and is on me if I don't do my workouts according to plan. I have worked with other coaches for running and I really believe you get what you pay for. If you are not up for the $200/month fee, try BT Gold and see if it helps. They won't stay on you to do your workouts, but they do answer questions pretty quickly. The other thought is you could join a triathlon team in your area. They usually have scheduled workouts and that might compel you to participate. |
