THis will be my first tri. I was wondering if anyone knows how hilly the bike course will be that has done it before. I have a hard time running after doing alot of hills. I have only been training a little over a month and thought this would  be a good beginner tri.

I'll be there... but it'll be my first time as well, so I can't throw any info out on it.  Good luck though!

wow, did some of the hills on the bike take my legs out for the run.  The run was brutal, I was DOA and only managed a sub-20 run time.  Saw lots of walkers.  The problem with the bike for me was lap one, I would turn a corner and lose speed only to have to grind hard to get up the hill.  Lap two was much much better as I was able to anticipate the hills and really take advantage of the downhills.  There was one hill where I saw folks walking their bike up!  it was a real short (maybe 100 yard) stretch right after a turn.

Had lots fun and will be back next year!

I almost DIED on that first sharp right hand turn at the bottom of the hill on the bike. I laughed (very nervously) about it for the next mile or so.

Yeah the run was my enemy also. I think I was around 20 min. also. My calf started cramping almost instantly.  My chain came off on last lap of the bike.  It seemed like all the nice down hill sections had a sharp turn at the bottom. My unofficial time was around 57.45 according to my watch. With it being my first Tri, I was pleased with my results.

This was my first tri also, I had a wonderful experience!  I'm excited to sign up for another tri soon.  This was a great race for beginners, even the hills didn't bother me a lot.  The Y was nice, and the race announcer (director?) was loud and helpful.  I liked the amount of shade on the run and bike courses, and the little traffic since the bike was in a neighborhood.
My only complaint is the yellow arrows on the bike course from the kids' tri, they confused me when I drove the course the night before.  Had the info emailed to me the previous Wed included the facts about the arrows and instructions to ignore them, that the course was indeed the two loops shown on the map, I'd have felt a lot better.  I found out when standing in the line for the swim that the course was indeed two loops, not the course with the yellow arrows.  And I know one of the participants who didn't complete the proper bike course, he's an excellent cyclist, not sure what happened, maybe a volunteer let a group slip by him / her in the wrong direction, don't really know.  He's very disappointed, it was his first tri also.
