Subject: I need a starter Bike
Hey everyone,

Is anyone here looking to sell a starter triathlon bike for a good price?  I have a mountain bike but would like to get a starter tri bike.  I am brand new to all of this but have a desire to be in a triathlon by Oct. or Sept.

I bought my first bike last summer using Craig's list.  I had to do some research and visit a bike shop to figure out what size I needed and I learned that different brands can have slightly different geometry's for the same size bikes.  I ended up getting my used  bike fit at a shop and had to purchase a few new parts to get the right fit.  Good luck

If you craigslist it or anything, just make sure you find out what size bike you will need so you will get a decent fit.

One idea also is to go on the cheap and then in January... you can buy a new bike on close out. Bikes are like cars... the new models come out and the old models get closed out. Often there is just a change in the paint scheme on the bike as well.

Thank you guys for the information!  I did not have a clue about bikes changing models like cars.  I am planning my first tri in Oct. so maybe I could wait till Jan.  If there is anyone out there selling though please let me know.
