Subject: RE: Do I really need "running" shoesMy suggestion would be to not only get good running shoes, but also go to an actual "runners" store where they can fit you to the RIGHT running shoe based upon your level of pronation, how you run, etc. The better ones have treadmills with cameras. (similar to the post above, but find a reliable/recommended/knowlegeable store in your area and get the right shoe the first time ). You will avoid injuries down the line and save yourself a lot of time and pain (and money...if you end up buying the wrong shoes and hate them! ).
Then, be sure to replace them about every 6 months or 400 miles or so.
Otherwise, you risk injuries. Ask me how I know.
Per the running shoe v. walking shoe questions: I would think a running shoe is fine for walking, but not the other way around. If the shoe can withstand/support given the impacts of running, then it can do so for walking. The only downside would probably be that it could be "more" of a shoe than what you really need, but from an injury prevention standpoint it should be fine. |
