Subject: Any 5k running races near Charlotte August 1st?
I'll be in the Charlotte/Lake Norman area this weekend and am trying to find a 5k race to do while I'm there to fill some time and make sure I don't slack on my training.  But I'm having trouble finding one.  I remember there being tons of 5k's to choose from that seemed like every weekend when I lived there 10 years ago.  Can someone point in in the right direction for finding some?  I've checked Run for Your Life's calendar, active.com, but where else would I find something?  I'm not traveling with my bike, so a simple 5k is all I'm looking for... or is it just too hot in August for people to be willing to run?

Well it looks like they are mostly in South Charlotte but there are a couple this weekend.

One is the Cane Creek in Waxhaw and the other is in Munroe.  There is also a 8k in Albermarle.

But yeah...the 5k's really slow down in July/Aug as it is hotter 'n hell right now!

One word of advice...since you haven't been to CLT in ten years, you owe it to yourself to get some real BBQ.  Mac's Speed Shop has the best Q in town (and they have location at the lake, athough I have only been to the one on South Blvd).
