I'm looking at buying a wet suit. I am 5'10 about 165..not sure what size to get. Also what is the prefered wet suit a full sleve or sleve less? What are the best wetsuits that you guys have had the best sucess in competing in as well as do not have problems with?

Thanks.

This probably won't help - but a friend of mine recently bought his - but he rented several times just to try different brands of suits.  They all fit a little different.

I bought a sleeveless that was on crazy sale - so I just took a chance (e-mailed the company to make sure I had the right size) and mine worked out.  But... if price isn't a problem I would buy a full sleeve.  Lake Erie can be pretty cold and I wish I had sleeves sometimes.

You can buy just sleeves, similar to arm warmers but it's wetsuit material.
Quintana Roo makes some.

I don't know that anyone can answer the size question accurately enough for you.  If I were you I would find the closest tri shop and try on some wetsuits.  Someone who's the same general height and weight as you might not fit the same suit.

As for the sleeveless vs full sleeve, I prefer the sleeveless just because it feels more free, but I also have a tendency to chafe in the armpit area from my sleeveless.

The problem with going to the closest tri shop would be 6 hours away. So that is kind of not an option inless i travled down that way which probably won't happen.

I used trisports.com to order mine. They have a wetsuit calculator to help with size and selection which is cool. Once I picked my suit, I confirmed the size with going to the actual manufacturer's site. It fit perfect the first time. Trisports also has a "one free swim" policy whereby you can wear it for one swim to check size, and if it doesnt fit right, you can return for exchange. That gave me pretty good comfort.

I would do some research, and talk to some folks. Lots of good choices out there. I picked a 2XU C:1 comp. I just love their stuff and, although its not a cheap suit, it seemed to have a lot of features for the money. You certainly dont have to spend $400 for a decent suit, but if you have the budget, its a solid choice. It fits great and feels fast in the water.

OH and go with sleeves unless you absolutely can't stand it. Sleeves = faster. Period.
