Subject: Lactic Acid --- SportsLegs

At this point, I basically just drink water on rides of 2 hours or les and sometimes more.  I do not take any of the recovery supplements and I do not plan on taking SportsLegs.  I also do not ride fast enough to feel the burn in my legs.  I just slow down.... seems to work for me.    A friend of mine tried SportsLegs and wants me to try them because I take anything besides water and occasionally a sports drink.

I at least agreed to look at the website.  It looks like bananas and milk in a pill to me.  Very expensive bananas and milk.  On the site, they referenced this article on lactic acid that I thought was interesting.

Does anyone here use SportsLegs?

Hey Neal - i started using the sportslegs a few month ago an I think it has made a difference. I'm not nearly as sore after long har workouts an I feel like my legs have more pop in the long ries. Could be totally mental though....

I was wondering how much of it could be mental when I read the testitmonials because I feel better on different days anyway.  I would not know it was the sportslegs of just the natural ebb and flow of working out.  I still think I will stick to bananas.  They are a lot less expensive.

Just make sure you don't eat a lot of bananas before you ride the gaps   You can ask Greg and Karen about that.

My friend that was so high on them told me she is not so sure now either.  I thought that was pretty funny because she was so pushy about me trying them.  I have not tried them so I have no idea.

Maybe the next time we ride, I could try a dose.  I was not actually looking for anything.  My friend seemed to think that I NEEDED to try them for some reason.  Do you think she was trying to tell me something?

hey Neal did you out swim the shark in your avatar?!!!!
I use hammer products mostly out of convenience, a lot easier to carry a couple of pills than a couple of bananas plus not much fiber in pill form to get the intestines going! I think in the 90 deg days we have, these things work but you need to be careful as a lot of it is probably snakeoil.

Yeah, I beat him.

I concur on snakeoil.  I think my being such a cynic is why my friend was so pushy about the SportsLegs.

I do like the Hammer Endurolytes b/c I tend to get headaches on really hot days and those do seem to help. I also like Recoverite because I did a race and the next day had a great ride. But that could have been because the road race wasn't that hard. Not sure. In any event, I'm going to order some of that stuff.
