Subject: Lake Geneva bike course
I set out yesterday planning to do the bike course all 56 miles and see what I am in store for but instead it was a struggle to find my way back to my car. I did the first 10-12 miles of the route correctly and feel this course shouldn't be too hard, rather flat and can average a higher speed. The probem is that not all the roads are marked with signs so I got lost looking for I believe Lake Shore Dr. I guess to which street it was and that started a 40 mile adventure looking for my car. The positive out of this is I got to see some beautiful parts of Wisconsin but my speed slowed down from 19 mph on the course to 17.5 mph overall in frustration of trying to find my way back. I was able to work on my nutrition which went well and I didnt deal with any wind at all. Oh well, I just hope from what I have heard in the past about this race that this does not happen again. Do I need to go out a couple days beforehand and mark the course myself???

Yes, please mark it

I'll look for the carrots on the road on race day.

It depends, do you want to find your back way to Reid Park to do the run or not? My coach loaded the course on his Garmin and that is how we found our way around the course.  We got lost once.  I take it there were no little white arrows consistently throughout the course?

Since I have already email'ed the RD once about the RR, maybe you could email Frank about the route to make sure he is actually going to mark it this year.

after doing the Dairyland Dare and finding out how much i liked having a cue sheet, i've decided i'm going to be typing up my own LG turn-by-turn cue sheet that i can attach to the top of my aerobag.

DD was well marked (with possibly one minor exception), but the having the cue sheet with mileage, turn direction and street name was nice anyway.

having Frank mark it would be  better...I'd hate to have you mark it, and unknowingly make a mistake. (better to have someone upset at the RD than you!)
