Subject: Looking for Suggestions on Road Frame
Due to an unfortunate series of events, I'm looking to buy a new road bike frame and fork set.  I've got good wheels and components, so I'm only looking for the frame/fork.

We're planning on moving from East Texas to the Pacific Northwest around May or June 2010, so I'd like to get a good climbing frame.  I'm also interested in getting something that could be used in crits and road races.  I'm looking for something that would be light and stiff.

My wife has a Specialized Roubaix (triple crank since we're moving to Pacific NW) and is very happy with it.  I've thought about maybe going with a Tarmac S-Works, but it works out to be a bit heavier than I'd like.  I've also looked a bit at Look 595 or 586, Trek Madone, maybe a Cervelo R3 SL.

I'd like to get a frame that's a couple years old so I can keep it affordable... $1000 or so for the set.  So what would you BTers recommend?

S-Works Tarmac is a great choice, and it's not a heavy bike by any stretch.

I absolutely love my Look 595. A really nice balance between comfort and stiffness and since it's reasonably light (mine weights in just shy of 16lbs), and with no flex, it does climb well (as well as I will allow it at least... bike is not holding me back). Did a 6.5km, 8%avg. last month.

I would think that the 586 might fit your needs even better though. Highly recommend looking into Looks.

Scott Addict, hands down

If not that, possibly a Cannondale Six / Supersix or Scott CR-1

I would look into the Cervelo RS. It is only 10% heavier the R3-SL but it is 25% less expensive. It weighs 1050 grams so it is still a light frame. It is still very stiff. It does have a longer head tube and chain stays so it offers a slightly more upright riding position. Cervelo uses less expenesive carbon fiber is the reason for the lower cost and the higher weight.

I got an 2008 RS in October last year and very good discount over the 2009. Bulit it up with Ultegra SL components with a set or Easton SL50 wheels. It has provided a great ride

I have an '06 S-Works Tarmac.  I love it.  Got it one year old for $750.  With full Ultegra SL compact crank, carbon bars, Specialized Toupe saddle, Look Keo Carbon pedals, Easton Orion II wheels, Michelin Pro3 Race tires, it comes in at 17libs.

It doesn't need to be a name brand, but I'm just throwing names out there that people might recognize and will be easy to research.  A buddy I ride with has a Leopard bike and loves it.  They're not as well known, but he says their customer service is second to none.
