My friends bike got stolen

What I am about to recommend is too late for your friend, but I thought it was a good idea. I was at REI yesterday and they had this product, can't remember what it's called, but for $10 there are two stickers you put on your bike that say "Call this number for a reward."  You call the national bike registry and register your bike with them, and if someone finds it or buys it and then finds the sticker and feels bad, they can call and find out who really owns the bike.  Cops can use it to find out who owns it.  Kind of a cool idea.  They suggested you could even put the stickers on your cell phone, keys, or anything else you might lose of value.
