Is there any interest in hitting up Lake Wingra this week? I am thinking of heading out there later than the usual time--probably about 6 pm--because I now have late meetings at work on Thursdays.

So, if anyone wants to swim at 6, I'll be there. Will there be an early group too?

You're brave.  Since the beach has been closed, I have officially done my last swim in Wingra until next year!

Uh...then maybe I shouldn't mention that I was swimming there Sunday night after dark. ...after a 4.5-hour brick. ...in tinted goggles. ...and swimming among the fishing boats. ...and when I returned to the shore visibility was so bad that I overshot the beach by a good 50 yards. ...and I dragged a first-time Wingra swimmer out there with me. ...and she was trying out a wetsuit for the first time. ...and I decided the exact center of the lake was a good spot to swim for. ...and then she panicked from the suit. ...and then we got separated in the dark. ...and then it was every swimmer for himself/herself.

But now it's too late. I already typed it. But yeah, I think I'm switching back to daytime swimming for the rest of the year.

You didn't say that you ate a ton of junk just minutes before the swim, too.

I'll be there on Thursday at 4:15, with the 6:00 LUNA Chix ride to follow. Oh yes, I will. Of course, I've said that the last few weeks and it hasn't happened. Think we can finally make it happen this week?

Did anyone make it out there. We swam at 7:00 instead of 6:00 because SOMEONE needed a third wetsuit. Sorry to anyone who got stood up.

The rope lines are down, and the beach is now under the undisputed control of the local geese. Either that or someone turned the beach into a poop farm.

The sun went down when we were out there, so it was another night swim. It was nice: I started the season with a night swim--chasing boats around--and I get to end it with a night swim as well. Sure, it may seem like I've learned nothing, but at least I stayed away from the boats this time.

You don't learn, do ya?  Ya know they're still searching for that body in Lake Monona, right?

Um, you know, I went there at 4:15, only to discover the big red sign saying "do not swim! Beach closed! Dangerous levels of bacteria!" I guess being there in the sunlight has some advantages.

(And no, I'm not kidding.)

Ah, but the question is, would seeing that sign have changed my mind?

I guess the duck poop minefield we had to cross to reach the water should have been a sign...

Well, I didn't swim, if that tells ya anything. Of course, that was partly because no one else showed up. I may have been talked into it had I not been alone.
