Subject: Clyde or No Clyde.....

Currently entered my first sprint tri in mid-October.  Training is going well.  I am currently bobbling around 200 lbs.  I don't really think I will loose all that much before the race, so I signed up for the Clyde division.  Should I have signed up for the regular divison and/or would they be able to switch the division if I am in fact less weight at the time of the tri?

Sounds exactly like my race last week end.  It was my first full sprint and I was weihging about 200 - 198.  Limit for Clydesdale division was 198. I just made sure I was weighing about 200lbs.  I actually ended up medaling with a second place finish.  Great way to end my first tri season.  Go for it and don't look back.  They didn't weigh me or anything like that and I haven't heard or seen any race that has done that.

I was weighed at my first race.  I think that if you are under the weight cutoff, they just move you to AG.

Usually they'll let you switch close to or on race day if your weight changes. I'm racing as a Clyde for a HIM in November. I'm 215 today, but if I get under 200 by race day I'll just switch to AG.

I typically loose 6-8lbs during an Olympic distance race.  I too am doing a HIM in October and would suspect roughly 10lbs change over the full 5hrs.  I would assume weigh in is at the finish and not the start...if on the border could make a difference.
