![]() Run
Comments: I had to pee at the starting line but did not have the opportunity. I ran with a full bladder and it sucked. I think I could have cut at least a minute off of this time at least. I never felt like I pushed very hard. The wind was a little tough though, and the last hill was a mofo. I did not take any water at all at the aid stations due to my allready uncomfy bladder. I want to go at a 8 flat pace ext time I do a 5k. I know just from running last year that I can cut 1 minute per mile off of my pace with a bit more training. What would you do differently?: Be sure I got all of the info before the race. Get there earlier. Instead of drinking a butt-load of water before the race (which made me want to pee) I will drink a little prior and more during the race. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I had a MB with regular pedals. No toe clips or anything. I just grabbed it and went. Slapped on my helmet and on my way. It did not take more than 20 or 30 seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: I knew I would loose whatever ground I made on the run to the biking. About a 2 miles into the bike the woman who won the female category passed me on a hill (with a nice road bike allthough I do not doubt her abilities) and said, "good job". That particular hill seemed to go on for ever. And into the wind mind you. I managed to not let anyone else pass me. The guy behind me was on a road bike. After the race he said,"I caught up on the hills but on the downhill and straights you just pulled away". That made me feel kinda good. I finished stongly and felt a little dehydrated. Some of those hills I went up were very slow. I wonder how fast I was minus those pesky hills. I felt like I was going pretty fast on those straights. Hmmmmm I need a road bike. What would you do differently?: Get a road bike. I think I went about as hard as I could. I wanted badly to catch that lady. GET A WATER BOTTLE!!!!!!! ![]() Post race
Warm down: Rode the beast back to the race start which is where I parked. What limited your ability to perform faster: Excessive urine, dehydration, heavy ass Trek Y26 mountain bike. Event comments: There were only like 14-15 people at this event. It was about as organized as it could be. They took pictures and stuff, but I wish I got a t-shirt. It was FREE though. A perfect first event for me. I can not wait to do a full sprint tri....hehe. Last updated: 2005-05-21 12:00 AM

The race was at 9am. I apparently did not get the info that the bikes were supposed to be pre-positioned at 8am. I was under the impression that it was a bike then run but it turned out to be the other way around. I arrived at 8:40 and had to haul booty to the transition point, drop off my bike, then hurry back to the start. Got there with about five minutes to spare. I drank some Prople fitness water and ate a granola bar.
Did not get a chance to warm up. It hurt me through the race.
