Subject: Tri Bike Selection
Now that the offseason is soon approaching I am starting to look into purchasing a tri bike for next season and seasons following. Currently I am riding a 2008 Specialized Tarmac Elite and while I enjoy the bike tremendously it is not a tri bike and I need/want one. I dont know much about tri bikes but I want to get one that fits perfectly to me or as close as possible. My price range is anywhere up to 3k max, and the bike I get I want to have a great frame with decent midrange componentry that I can later sub out along with wheels that I can exchange later on.Some major things that I am looking for in my bike include the following:

Bike that will save much energy for runs
More aggressive frame
Bike that gives intermeadiate or higher handling skills
One that is optimal for IMWI and many other tris in the Wisconsin midwest area

Any and all help is welcome. I plan on test riding many bikes along with getting professionally fit when I do make a decision. Some bikes I have been told about are

Cannondale Slice
Orbea Ordu
Cervelo series (Are these bikes that great?)

Thanks all

Bike that will save much energy for runs

This is an urban legend; riding steep in an aerodynamic position does not save energy for the run.

More aggressive frame

An aggressive frame is one that is designed to be riden very low in front; typically this will require a steep seattube angle (usually around 78*) along with a short headtube.  However, these frames are not for everyone, witness the number of athletes on a P3 with an positive rise stem and huge stack of spacers.

Bike that gives intermeadiate or higher handling skills

I have no idea what this means.

One that is optimal for IMWI and many other tris in the Wisconsin midwest area

Any tribike will work for pretty much any course as long as you have the correct gearing for your abilities.

Good luck in your search,

Shane
