Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Merry Christmas to YourselfWelcome Kathy, Jimmy, and Damon!
I just thought I would share where I am coming from...I was never really what I would consider fit (but we are always our own worst critic, huh?!) However, I learned to LOVE running while I was in the Army and still find it to be my Happy Place. In Jan 08 my life changed drastically in so many ways. I had my darling baby girl which left me weighing 198lbs, not working for the first time in my life (by choice!) then 2 months later we moved to HI where I knew absolutely noone. Needless to say I ran the gammut of emotions: happy, sad, elated, lonely. I started trying to get back in shape but I am very goal oriented so I needed something to focus on. Enter ~ triathlon! I had always wanted to do one and what perfect time to start but when I desperately needed something for ME and here we are living in Hawaii. I joined BT in Oct of last year and have since ran several races, won my AG in my first DU, finished my first Sprint and Oly triathlons and am now seriously contemplating a HIM next year (how do I pass up the opportunity to do it here in HI?). Plus, I now weigh 140 lbs.
Needless to say, I still struggle with food (but does that ever really stop when you are trying to be healthy?) and I am totally addicted to the challenges and accountability this site offers. Like I said before, this was the first challenge I joined last year and it really helped me to stay focused on the bigger picture (not that piece of almond roca calling my name!) and I hope it will do the same for all of you! ![](https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif) |
