How's the Essex County Tri club doing. What have y'all been doing.
I know the season is not done yet but what everyone's for next year?

I am thinking of doing most of the local races and Steelhead...there is a chance I will be In BC in May so I am thinking of doing a Half Iron there also

I'm looking at Steelhead and Cedar Point (70.3).  I'll do Leamington again.

I might head out west as well - I have a friend that wants me to come out and race with her out there - so maybe a sprint in Kelowna?

I've been sick since school started ... so I've been swimming with the masters group so far and that's about it.  I'm going to go out on the bike this morning for a short spin - but nothing terribly exciting.

I have the Kona internet feed plugged into the TV for the day so I'm not getting much done.

I'm pretty sure I won't do Muskoka again next, but probably Steelhead and maybe focus a bit more on Olympic distance. I'm still interested in IM FL for 2011 if next summer goes well. It sounds like Matt is interested too, so it would be fun to get a group of us in.

I didn't realize that Cedar Point was going to do a half in addition to the IM. That might be interesting. It's not actually a 70.3 is it?

It is that new series REV# that is in direct competition with WTC. My achilles crippled my ability to run hard this summer so I am only going to mail in the half at Detroit, I have been leading a running group at my gym for the last twleve weeks so I am going to be running with around 15 people that have never run a half before. They are going to have time between 1:55 and 3:00 so it is going to be a neat experience for sure.

Not sure what I am doing next year but I know I am starting the season off with the Martian marathon and then I will go from there. I am definitely going to be back on the tri scene next year, running only was tough on my body this year and it has shown.

Have a great off season

I've signed up for the full at Cedar Point and if any of you are interested, the hotels have great rates for the athletes. I already booked at Hotel Breakers and was surprised at the discounted rates. I'm sure a lot of people will doing the half there - it would be great to have a whole crew from Essex county out there.

Hmmm.... IM FL in 2011, I could be interested. My concern is always shipping the bike - it's so bloody expensive. I've never driven to Florida, but I suppose if I planned to take a longer trip and drive it would be great to have a training group locally for that.

Also spent many hours watching Kona yesterday. Was thrilled to see Tereza Macel finish in fourth as well as the great finish by Blaire Kniaziew-Gervais

I'm doing the full next weekend in Detroit and my wife and daughter are doing the 5k - hope to see some of you there - also hope we have a nice day like today.

I need to think some more about Cedar Point. What is the course like? I'm inclined to pay a little extra and do an official IM or 70.3 as they really know how to put on a show. I might do the half at Cedar Point, but I know that I don't have many IM races in me, so if I'm going to go the distance I'll pay extra for the hoopla and Mike Reilly saying my name.

I used TriBikeTransport for IM FL last year. It is a little expensive but it is so convenient that I would use them again instead of flying with my bike. I found accomodation and flights to Panama City to be inexpensive. Having a group of us to train with and do 2011 together would be great.

I didn't notice Blaire finish yesterday, I need to go check her results. We were at the finish line about 4 years ago when she finished third (I think it was third?) in her age group. Her mom Pauline did the worlds in Honolulu the week before so both of her parents were at the finish line in Kona cheering her in.

I'm thinking Cedar Point for several reasons:
1. The course will be flat.
2. It's close to home.
3. It's the only way I'll get in two races next year.  (I don't want to be ready to race any earlier than end of July - and Ottawa is too much travel at the start of the school year.)
4. Funnel cakes.

Hey all.

For next year, I am also looking at the new Cedar Point half Ironman (still unsure).   I am going to do Sarnia and Milton Oly and some local Sprints, for sure.

So far I have Belle River, Motorcity OYL and Steelhead under my plan.

Still debating rather I should do Cedar Point or Muskoka.  Looks like everybody is leaning toward Cedar Point but I want to surround with Canadian   That said, I guess it really depends on if I am able to survive Steelhead.

Leamington Sport Complex would be a fun place to do a g2g too.  Indoor pool, spin bikes and running track.  We could do a mini tri!!!!!
