I'm looking to find a running group for training for a spring marathon. Ran with the Running Factory group two years ago over the winter; are there similar groups still running? Are there some other brave souls willing to run in the snow and ice ?

I've taken much of the summer off, now it's time to get back into some sort of form!

Thanks for the email!

I would like a regular Sunday morning run, but can do Saturday too (trying to get to the wife's SPIN class by 10:00AM though, so 8AM start). I'll get on the email list and see what's up.

I'm planning on building a big running base this winter, and I hate running inside, so I will be running outside unless the footing is terrible. However I run out in the county and do frequent short runs at low HR, so I usually can't find a compatible running partner.

How short do you go? I'm trying to take it easy and run more often too. Tried the 3-day plan, but think more often would be better (especially if miss a workout). I train based on HR too.

I live in East Windsor, but don't mind driving a bit to run. Don't much like running down city streets.

I have had some success with the approach described in the Slowtwitch thread that I posted in this forum in the Offseason Running thread. Right now my week looks something like: Monday 20 minutes, Tuesday 40, Wednesday 20, Thursday 40, Friday 20, Saturday off, and Sunday 60 minutes. All of this is done at around 135 bpm. Once I have been following this approach for a while I will bump up my volume I'll probably be better company for a group run. I do most of my runs on the Greenway, but it would be nice to get together for a group run somewhere on weekends. Slowtwitch usually starts their 100 runs in 100 days challenge at the start of December and I plan on trying it this year. I seem to recover better with a short and easy run than with a day off, but that is just me.

A Sunday 60 minutes sounds good.

I'm open to anywhere, but partial to Malden Park. Been renovating my house over the winter and summer, so need to ease gently back and not get hurt... which is not good. Slower paces will be good for now... used to go too fast with the Running Factory group anyway.

I need to work some hills in over time. Flying Pig in Cincinnati downhills were my nemesis.

I'll check out your slowtwitch link... 100 runs in 100 days sounds interesting to me!

Oh, Oh...me, me. (raising hand)

I am going to give the 6 day a week run thing a try. I am runnning between 6:15 and 6:30am near sandpoint beach if anyone wants to join in. I usually go 25 to 45 min depending on the day at 9 to 10min/mile pace.

I'm interested, close to where I live and a good pace for low HR too. Give me a PM and I'll try to join you next week. I'll see if I can interest anybody else I know... tough for the morning though .

Thanks for everyone's interest so far, it's good to have options to run with others, especially in the dead of winter!

I used to run with a group at Taloola cafe (Devonshire Rd/RiverSide) every Sat morning around 8 -9.  Nice and friendly crowd with super fast spinner(WABC and Bordercity member) to walker speed runner(senior, athena & clydesdale).  They have very consistence winter running.

Yes, I think I've seen some of the group at Taloola after the run. Unfortunately, my wife teaches SPIN on Sat morning at 10AM. Could run before I guess, but it would have to be an 8:00AM start to be safe.

I enjoyed the Running Factory runs on Saturdays... too bad they no longer have them.

Guess who's back??

My broken ankle is healed and I'm checking out the running threads. I need to get back into shape STAT! I have been pigging out since August with no way to burn it off...

I just wanted to add that I like to run in snow and ice at a low HR too. Good times!

I'd be interested in possibly hooking up for a run once in awhile in Windsor.  I generally run at night due to my work and family schedule but I hit my long runs early on Sat. mornings.

I have been running marathons for several years but have have always trained alone and haven't been involved in the local running scene at all.  I missed my BQ (3:15) by 2 minutes this fall so I'd like to see if training with a partner/group could help push me over the hump.

Goffer you should hook up with the Windsor Social running group I pm'd you the email of the group. If you ran a 3:17 marathon you might find our group a bit slow...not that were slow...we just aren't 3:17 marathoner's yet.

There is no fee to use the site. Just get an ST ID and then you go join the challenge and log your runs in the training log. Already about 250 signed up. I've been doing fairly well with my run frequency but this should be a litte added motivation to get me out the door on cold days

I know ST is free to use, but I still don't think I qualify for ST status. What little I've seen and then heard about here on BT makes me think I'm too slow/fat/tech-challenged to fit in around there.

I'll track myself in my logs for personal pride (or shame, when I fail miserably...)!
