Need hotel/motel rec - near University of San Diego

I'm going down to SD for a 3-day conference at the University of San Diego. However, I have no idea what is good or bad. I'm not looking for the closest hotel since I will have a car so if those are more expensive, I prefer not to stay there. Also, I don't want it in a 'happening' area, nothing too noisy or loud. I'm looking for something under $100 if possible but not necessary. It doesn't have to be too nice since my SO will not be there.
