Subject: Importing a Running Plan

I have a couple of newbie questions.

I'm wondering if it's possible to import plans as a free user?  I have a running plan that I am using, but it is not from BT.  I would like to use it, but am thinking I might need to upgrade to a different membership (maybe bronze)?  I do notice that there is a feature that allows uploading via a CSV file.  I do have my plan in a CSV format, but I doubt it is the required BT format.

So...in a nutshell can I upload a plan as a "free" user of BT?  If I need to upgrade, then I might do so if I am able to upload a NON-BT plan.  I don't mind revising my CSV file to put it in the proper BT format, but I need to make sure it can be done?

Any insight is appreciated.....Thanks.

Here's how to think of it:

  • There are two Training Logs: Actual Log for recording what you do and a Planned Log for recording what you plan to do.
  • The Actual log is free, the Planned Log is a Performance Member feature.
  • Uploading is available to whatever logs you have access to, based on your membership.
  • There's a template available in this article to format your data for uploading.
  • You could upload your plan to your Actual log and just treat anything from today forward as Planned.
BTW, doing this is ok with us we don't see it as 'cheating' or anything like that.  One of the criteria we use to decide which features are free vs. paid is how server intensive they are. Storing the data for future workouts is trivial in terms of server use, it's everything that goes along with it like Actual vs. Planned analysis that gets expensive.  So if storing future workouts in your Actual log works for you, have at it.

Thanks for the detailed information.  The link was very helpful and I see that I can very easily create and use my own plans by following your format.  I do like the idea of having a plan to follow especially for my half & marathon training.  I also like the idea of being able to track plan to actual, so I would definitely use both logs (instead of just the one).

Thanks again for the help!
