Hey everyone,

I'm not in the Ontario section too often, but I just wanted to see if anyone was doing, or had done, the Bracebridge MSC tri before.  This is my first season of triing, and I just signed up for Bracebridge.  I am originally from Toronto, but am now in Montreal (likely to be back in TO at the end of the year).  Anyone have any good advice for the race?  I'm going to start frequenting the Ontario section much more often in the near future.

Thanks a lot!

Pete

Perfect!  Thanks for the info!  I have a cottage relatively close by, so I know the area fairly well.  Thanks for letting me know about the hills.  That is something that I definitely need to get better at, especially if there are that many.  I am only doing the Sprint, so it shouldn't be nearly as bad as the HIM!

Thanks again!  Glad to hear it is a well put together race!

I did the Tri-a-Tri last summer and it was an excellent experience.  It was very well run as are all MSC races and I had a great time.  The river swim was excellent, and the transition layout was very convenient.

I may do the sprint this summer as well.

I believe that i am going to pull the trigger and do the Bracebridge Half Iron Du since my shoulder is not healed enough to swim.  How is the bike course compared to Peterborough????

The Bracebridge sprint is 20K and there are only 3 or 4 small hills.
The rest is flat and fast!
It's a beautiful route!

Thanks for the info, livertrans2!  That is what I like to hear!  :P

I'm going to be driving the course this weekend to get a good idea.  I am really looking forward to the race.  Is anyone else doing it?

Hi, I did it last year and am doing it again this year.
The hills are good. You work on them a bit but are rewarded with true rollers on the other side. Run is flat. Swim is intially against the current then you turn and are with the current. Well organized.

Great!  Thanks for the feedback.  I can deal well with the rollers.  I'm not looking forward to the big hills, though.  I will be hammering too hard going up, I already know it.

See you this weekend!  I'll be the one in the yellow tri suit!

Jeez, you work on the hills a bit?  Those things almost killed me!  The first hill, I royally underestimated (but so did everyone in front of me...), and didn't give myself enough gearing.  Slowed down to about 1/2 speed, and really struggled to get up.  But I managed to.

Overall, very good race!  I hope everyone had a good time this weekend!

Glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah that first one stumped a group with me too. And there were may more cars this year on the course. Lots of blocking going on - as there was last year. But I really like this race.
