Total Time = 1h 18m 55s
Overall Rank = 292/415
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 42/47
Pre-race routine:

First Tri ever! Woke up at 5am. Half banana. Stretched. Walk then jog for 1 mile. 15 mins. Two 1 min sprints. Stretched. Drank water. Energy Bar 90 mins prior.
Event warmup:

Stretched. Biked 1 mile on bike course. Got into water to get body used to temp. Nice lake temperature.
Swim
  • 09m 19s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

No wind. Great day. Really calm water. Swimming was so much faster then in the pool.
What would you do differently?:

Start at back of pack in my wave. Done more of the backstroke, relaxing and I was catching people doing it.
Transition 1
  • 02m 48s
Comments:

My bike was so easy to see when the pressure was off. When it came time to find it, I lost about 5-10 seconds looking for my bike. Doh!
What would you do differently?:

Arrange articles slightly different. Mark bike better.
Bike
  • 35m 12s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.75 mile/hr
Comments:

Really great ride. No big hills.
What would you do differently?:

On a loaner bike from brother. Frame too big. Need to get own bike. Get working on that.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Really did well on this one for my first time. Too many people were flying into the transition area and causing themselves some grief. I saw someone go right over the bars braking too hard.
What would you do differently?:

Get both feet out of toe straps prior. Just had one out.
Run
  • 30m
  • 3.2 miles
  • 09m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt like rubber in beginning. Wow. Need to take it more easy on frint side and then kick it in gear last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Ask about audio gear. Three people passed me with music and headphones. Not sure if that's legal. Would help me in run for tempo and motivation.
Need to ask next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked, stretched, drank h20.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience, 1st time, training, bike size.

Sorry I missed out. I'm now registered in the Brigantine one in Aug. Can't wait. Giving
my brothers bike back and heading to the store. Already know which one I want. I'm hooked.

Well done Tyler!

I passed a guy with headphones as well.  He was shouting out some motivational mantra.  Kinda like a military marching thing.

You had a great race.  It's good to finally get one done.

PS - For those that are going to be at the Brigantine Tri, I'm staying at the Sheraton Convention Center the night before and the night of the Tri. Hope to see you there. Would love to be at the next official unofficial gathering.
