Subject: RE: OWS in NY area (again) swishyskirt - 2010-07-02 5:31 PM Planning on doing an OWS sometime next week. We want to go on a Wednesday, but the beaches up at Harriman don't officially open until 10a. We need to be swimming by, like, 8. Does anyone know if there are rangers floating around to tell you to get out of the water? (Like, can we just show up early and swim on our own? ). We were thinking of going to Welch or Sebago. But, given the timing restrictions, anyone know of any other good OWS spots we could go to? Thanks! I biked harriman saturday and saw several of my glen rock tri comrades. when i got to lake welch (before 9 am ), the beach was packed. they must have opened around 8 am if not sooner for the holiday week end. my saturday harriman loop http://connect.garmin.com/activity/39031324i ows at another place a bit close to nyc, but it doesn't open til 10 am either darlington lake, mahway nj (run around grounds ) http://connect.garmin.com/activity/38841568darlington is close to campgaw which is the switchback for the wyckoff y tri i justr complete for 3rd time on june 19. i just wish i started going to darlington lake prior to the tri. am thinking about harriman sbr#2 |
