Subject: RE: Long Beach Triathlon : Official Threadthegull - 2010-08-23 4:13 PM I'm about to register, it's going to be my first tri. It seems like a pretty good race, with longer distances than most sprints, but a very flat course. Definitely looking forward to it. Two questions though, how big is the field usually (super crowded?) and do they provide wave specific swim caps or should I just bring my own (doesn't seem to mention on the site). The swim was very crowded. Waves were sent like 3-5 minutes apart. I remember in the course of 14 minutes catching many people in the wave ahead of me, and having people in the wave behind me catch me as well. The beginning and end were the worst, but the middle wasn't as bad since the field could spread out a bit in the water. The bike course wasn't bad because the streets are closed to traffic, so there are several lanes to ride in. As for the run, I'm not sure...most people were done when I was running! ![](https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/wink.gif) As for swim caps, they will give you one for your wave during packet pick up. |
