Staying in Vancouver in mid August- Does anone have any suggestions for nice, morning venues for open water swimming in the city itself?

I'm just getting into OW swimming here... so not sure if I'll be of much help...

What distance are you looking at for OW swims?

Many of the local beaches have buoyed/roped off areas that might work for early morning swims... Anytime from sunrise to about 9 or 10am.. when they become family/tourist venues!!

If you have access to a vehicle and don't mind a bit of a drive.. the following local lakes are great places for an OW swim... Sasamat and Alouette. Got friends training for IMC that OW swim at Sasamat regularly... have been to Alouette and think it's a good lake training location too..

Enjoy your visit.. and guessing some of my local BT "teammates" might provide more insight

There's twice weekly organized swims at Kits Beach. Check out the Vancouver Open Water Swim Association.

Did my first ever open water + wetsuit swim on Tuesday at Sasamat Lake...

Sasamat seems like a great location.. as I wasn't the only one in the water swimming from the beach to the 'canoes', etc... fairly good for objects to 'sight' on the various lengths/legs of the lake
