Subject: Best way to hit on a Tri guy?
After my first tri yesterday I was scanning the crowd thinking hum, cute, hot, hunky...meanwhile me all sweaty, dirty, red-faced. Not exctly ideal but hey, what do I know? Maybe you guys are into that?
So just for fun (and being very Carrie Bradshaw) here's my question: what's the best way to hit on a tri guy at an event?
Ladies, any good stories?
Men?

Introduce yourself:

Hi, my name is ________.

If he is at all attracted to you or has more than one neuron firing, it will work. If not, who needs him.

The trick is not in figuring out what to say, but gathering the courage to say it. Hi is the best line ever....

Or you can use the old faithfuls:

"Is that a spare tube in your pocket?"

"Uh... can you help me change my tire?"

"So, you have lots of endurance, right...?"

Only without the smoke and concealing, flattering clothing... - thankfully, there's still plenty of beer....

If a girl came up to me and said she liked my shoes, I'd think she liked my shoes

I'm such a loser

Well, I'm not in the market, but I can think of lots of ways to start a post-race conversation. You have to be careful pre-race because some folks just like to focus and go 'in the zone' so conversation then might be annoying.

Post-race, grab a drink, head to the food and ask the 'target'; "That was interesting; how'd you do?" Or; "This is only my _____ tri, what did you think of the bike course?" Or; "I swear, one of these days I'm going to get good enough on the bike to actually pass that four year old with training wheels!." Or; "Please tell me this tri stuff gets easier!"

You get the idea. I think most folks are happy to talk to, and comiserate with, strangers after an event. As far as the 'hitting on' part of the equation, I'm pretty clueless.

I'm such a loser

you TAKE that back!!! that is SOOOOOOOOOO NOT true..  and you have the best wifey on the planet.. so you did pretty well for yourself there

LOL, OK, taken back, (but it is true), that's the reason why, I've been out of the game for ages.....Ain't complaining though.  I hear stories of the game and it's not pretty.  Still, everyone likes to get a little attention, no??

As far as pulling a S&TC character, I thought Samantha would have the condoms spill out... actually, she'd probably have ..ummm... a battery operated toy spill out.

Great ideas! I know for sure I was intimidated by the whole scene and I must say you guys are pretty impressive. So using the newness to advantage makes sense.

Well if you had THAT saddle on your tri bike, you'd certainly get some attention!
