Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Hawaii : Official Thread Well, almost half way through my 20 week plan for the race. Time seems to be accelerating as the weeks draw down. I'm far ahead of my last preparations for this race as I ran a half marathon several weeks ago at my goal race pace and I've time trialed my swim in the pool at race pace comfortably. With the weather getting nicer I'm transitioning off the trainer so still evaluating where I'm at as have not had any long outdoor rides yet. I may just back off a bit on my bike goal pace and focus on a good solid run. The run course is tough with some of the undulating and twisting around golf cart paths.
I'm also buying whatever speed I can with a new aero helmet (RP Wingspan ), Specialized S-works Mondo tires, latex tubes, new speedsuit for the swim (darn WTC rule change as my B70 ZP3 is illegal ). We are also arriving a week early to better acclimate (per my wife's suggestion ). Hope everyone else's training is going well. |
