Hi everyone. I wanted to post a little note to let everyone know what's been going on. I took down my blog this past weekend because, to be totally honest, I wasn't using it. With so many things going on right now, I just didn't have the energy, or even desire, to deal with that. I do appreciate everyone that has posted well wishes there and via PM's.
I'm still working out, but not like I was earlier this year. Mostly, I'm still doing my martial arts stuff, biking, swimmng, walking the dogs, etc. I haven't been able to run because I messed up some ligaments in my left knee and I want to let it heal. I've also re-discovered my love of scuba diving. Not only that, I've rediscovered my beginner's mind. Something I thought I had lost forever years ago. Plus it's time to start hitting the weights again. I'm still going to do a sprint distance adventure race next month with some friends and I'm really looking forward to that, but it was hard to cancel the rest of my triathlons and a couple of long weekend dive trips. I'm also still working out on Saturdays with my Team in Training tri group. It's been really good for me to maintain contact with them and also encourage a new group of trainees. Speaking with my coach a couple of weeks ago, it looks like I'll be involved somehow next year as a triathlon mentor or something like that. That would be cool. Next year I'm planning on doing some Xterras in the spring and an off-road Half IM in the fall. Kinda getting tired of dealing with road biking and want to go back to my MTB roots.
I wish I could say that I was eating better, but it's more of a volume thing rather than bad food choices. My not-so-dreaded-mother-in-law has been staying with us and helping out so much. But, she's not used to cooking for less than a dozen people

I did have to tell her a couple of weeks ago that she went too far when she did my laundry and folded my underwear. I know, it's hard to believe that someone as easy going as me has a particular way of folding boxers
Things are also going very well with Jen's treatment. She had a week or so between treatment phases where she had her immune system back and we went nuts eating sushi, mexican food and thai food until we were ready to explode. It was great to see her feeling so good, but knowing that it wasn't going to last long once she started her next phase of chemo. We've also been very impressed with her medical staff. It always amazes me to find a doctor that has lots of experience, knowledge and "years in the game" that has not become jaded. This guy's bedside manner is incredible. Compassionate, but no-nonsense. That's a rare find anymore.
So, that's what is going on with me lately. I didn't want you guys to think that I just fell off the face of the earth. Besides, if I do, it'll be a cataclysmically
(is that a word?
) loud thud
